About

Hailing from Chiba Prefecture in the Kanto region of Japan, Yasuko Hagiwara came to New York City in 1998. While attending National Academy to study printmaking and various fine arts, Hagiwara worked professionally as a hair stylist at a notable Downtown Manhattan salon.

Today, she continues her work as both a stylist and an artist, continually drawing inspiration from the lines, forms, and textures of the natural world. Though moved by earthly patterns, her work traverses through the transcendent and the real.
